The Sage Creative: What's in a name?

Hello from Arizona!

Your life is busy with work, adulting, maybe kiddos, maybe school, and hopefully some FUN! The goal of this newsletter is to be short, digestible, and actionable for you. In this newsletter you will find:

  • New Post Summary and an Action Idea
  • Studio News, including:
    • What I'm Working On
    • What I'm Consuming

New Post Summary

Shakespeare made this question famous: "What's in a name?" It suggests that a name alone cannot capture the essence of a person or a thing. However, names hold unique power in shaping our perceptions, evoking emotions, and conveying identity. Our use of "sage" in Sage Leaf Studio and The Sage Creative is no exception. Learn more about why we chose "sage" in this blog post.

This week you get a two-fer! One blog to share the reason behind our name and one on naming a business. How do you choose a business name? Nate and I went through quite the process to make sure we had a winner. This is common when you put an engineer and a data scientist on a task. Hint: spreadsheets were involved. Ha! If you're interested in business naming, we've broken down our steps for you below.

Action Idea

  1. Have you ever named a business? Email us and share what you went with and why.
  2. If you're thinking about starting a side hustle or want to start a business someday, check out our Business Naming Tool to avoid costly headaches when picking a business name.

Studio News

Nate and I are on our annual October road trip out of Colorado. We usually go as far as Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico, but this year, Sedona and the Grand Canyon were calling. I've never been to either and Nate visited the Grand Canyon as a kiddo. We also took an unexpected detour to the Petrified Forest National Park in the Painted Desert, which was very cool. It's the largest petrified forest in the world!

It's been a great trip so far filled with world-class hiking, biking, great food, generous locals, visiting with dear friends, A-MAZING local art, and stunning views begging to be plein air painted!

What inspiring trips do you have coming up? Have you been to this part of the country before? Get live updates on the rest of our trip and the Arizona-inspired art I'm working on below.

What I'm Working On

  • Plein air painting. I've never really done this before and it's been super fun trying this for the first time in such an amazing place.

What I'm Consuming

  • Podcasts by Amy Porterfield on using AI for content creation and small business management.

That's all for now. Don't forget to do something for you today!

Jenny
